Looks like the swell is working it's way out this afternoon. This morning may have been good, but the strange warble that showed up last night looks that it has been sticking around. The surf still has some waist high sets, but the form isn't that great. If you ever see yourself in the report, claim your pic(s)! The WAFFF (West Atlantic Flatness Force Field sometimes referred to as the Bermuda High) if fighting a coldfront that has lifted off the East Coast of the US. If the coldfront can swing out further into the Atlantic we can get some more swell from the NE. Some of the models are putting the tropical distrubance to the east of PR into a favorable position for swell as long as the WAFF doesn't hold the coldfront back any longer. The WAFF has been somewhat unstoppable lately so we'll just have to wait and see. Our prime swell window is blocked by the WAFFF and it's unfavorable upper level winds. Tropical storms can't form, which is leaving the hottest parts of the Atlantic even hotter than normal for this time of year. As a result the temps have been super high here in PR and it has been HOT HOT HOT! Coldfronts are forced to go up and over our swell generating zone so we only get distant NE angle swell. The north side of the island is benefiting form this setup with light offshore winds and solid swell. Go up there if you need to surf. Rincon is not doing so great right now. That's the latest forecast for surfing puerto rico.
